Course Description:

“A perfect scripture that falsehood cannot touch in any way. A Revelation sent down from the Wise, He who is worthy of all praise.” (41:41-42). The Quran is the ultimate source of Sacred Law and serves as a comprehensive guide for living, clarifying one’s relationship with the Creator, humanity, and the world at large. For centuries, its authority was unquestioned, yet in modern times, deliberate efforts have sown seeds of doubt in the hearts of many.

This course aims to reaffirm the timeless authority of the Quran by exploring key topics such as the definition of the Quran and Revelation, its miraculous nature, the stages of revelation, its compilation and preservation, and its script. Additionally, students will delve into the modes of recitation, the order of revelation, and the sequence of its chapters. The course will also cover the historical context behind the revelation of specific verses and chapters, the stylistic and thematic features of the Makkan and Madinan surahs, and the principles of Qurʾānic exegesis, including topics like abrogation and the distinction between unambiguous and ambiguous verses.
