Course Description: Along with the Quran, the hadith corpus embodies the essential teachings of Islam. The guidance necessary for traversing this temporal existence and attaining the eternal abode of the Hereafter is found within these texts. Obedience to the Messenger is, in fact, obedience to Allāh, as He has commanded adherence to the Messenger’s teachings: “Whatever the Messenger prescribes, take it, and whatever he prohibits, abstain from it.” (59:7). In our times, we encounter detractors who, fueled by disbelief, have sought to challenge the authority of the hadith. Through baseless conjecture, orientalists and their unwitting following of Muslim ‘academics’ have introduced irrational doubts, tainting the hearts of some believers.

This course is designed to clarify and firmly establish the unquestionable authority of the Prophet’s Sunnah. By thoroughly confirming the validity of relying on the hadith corpus in nomistic application, students will realize that it offers the most perfect guidance for all human endeavors—legal, social, spiritual, and beyond. Participants will study both the transmission and preservation of hadith, while being introduced to the foundational principles of hadith nomenclature. Through this study, students will not only gain a broad understanding of this sacred science but also develop a deep appreciation for the monumental contributions of traditional hadith scholars.
