Shaykh Zahid Chowdhury was born in Los Angeles and grew up in Chicago. He graduated high school with an IB diploma and completed university studies with a BS in Chemical Engineering. After graduating, he worked as a Filtration Engineer at one of the largest water purification plants in America.

During that time, he also started studying the Arabic language and Islamic sciences part-time with local scholars. He spent the first three years studying an Arabic and Quran focused syllabus known as the Madani Nisab, created by Maulana Abu Taher Misbah (db). After spending dedicated time under the teacher himself, Shaykh Zahid finished his studies in Dhaka. He completed the final three years of the 'alim program at Shaykh Zakariyya Islamic Research Center. He later spent a year in Zambia, pursuing further studies in Hadith and Tazkiya.
